Privacy Policy
This policy explains what information CheckBeacon collects, how we use it, and the choices you have about your data.
This policy is provided as general information about our data practices and does not constitute legal advice. If you have questions about how this policy applies to your organization, please contact us or consult your own legal counsel.
Information we collect
We collect information in the following ways:
- Account information: name, email address, organization name, and a hashed password when you create an account.
- Check configuration data: the URLs, headers, request bodies, and assertions you configure for your monitors. Where you provide authentication details for your own endpoints (e.g. a Bearer token or API key), we store these encrypted so checks can run on your behalf.
- Check results: response times, status codes, and response data captured when your checks run, used to build your dashboards and history.
- Usage data: log data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps, collected automatically when you use the dashboard or API.
- Communications: information you provide when you contact us, request a demo, or apply for a role, such as your name, email, and message content.
How we use it
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, operate, and maintain the CheckBeacon service, including running your configured checks and generating alerts.
- Authenticate you and secure your account.
- Respond to support requests, demo requests, and other communications.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve the reliability and performance of CheckBeacon.
- Send service-related notices, such as alert notifications you've configured or important account updates.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies
CheckBeacon uses a minimal set of cookies and similar technologies that are necessary for the dashboard to function, such as keeping you signed in. We do not use third-party advertising cookies on our marketing site or dashboard.
Third-party processors
We work with a small number of third-party service providers to operate CheckBeacon, such as cloud hosting providers, email delivery services, and payment processors for billing. These providers only receive the information necessary to perform their function and are bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations. If you self-host CheckBeacon, your data does not pass through these third parties at all.
Data retention
We retain account information for as long as your account is active. Check results history is retained according to your plan's retention period (for example, 7 days on the Free plan or 90 days on the Team plan), after which older results are automatically removed. We may retain limited information for longer where required for legal, security, or accounting purposes.
Data security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your data, including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, hashed passwords (bcrypt), and role-based access controls within your organization. More detail is available on our Security & Trust page. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your personal information or account.
- Export your data in a portable format (CheckBeacon's REST API allows you to export checks, results, and groups at any time).
- Object to or restrict certain processing of your information.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@checkbeacon.com.
International transfers
CheckBeacon is operated by a remote-first team and may process information in countries other than your own. Where we transfer personal information internationally, we take steps to ensure it receives an adequate level of protection consistent with applicable law.
Children
CheckBeacon is intended for business and professional use and is not directed at individuals under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date on this page and, where appropriate, notify account owners by email.
